Cochran GEMINI

The GEMINI is two dive computers that communicate over a proprietary wireless link.

The tank-mounted computer measures cylinder pressure, depth, etc. and computes, stores, and transmits all data to the Intelligent Wrist Unit.

The Intelligent Wrist Unit measures its own depth, etc. independent of the Tank Unit while simultaneously receiving and displaying updates from the Tank Unit. The Intelligent Wrist Unit is a full-featured dive computer that can act independently from the Tank Unit should the need arise.

Multi-blend configuration features Cochran's patented gas blend switching.

Cochran Gemini Feature Selection Guide

The Cochran GEMINI is designed to grow with the diver as his/her diving experience progresses. The GEMINI's can be enhanced to keep step with this progress. The "upgrade-ability" helps prevent the diver from buying "too much" or "too little" dive computer. By answering the following questions the diver can make an informed decision regarding the proper GEMINI configuration.

  1. Do you dive Nitrox?
If NO, the Air-only configuration is for you.
If NO, but I plan to get certified shortly. Then the single gas-FO2 should be considered.
If YES, go to the next question.
  2. Do you Dive more than one Nitrox mixes per dive?
If NO, Only one, Then the single-gas FO2 should be your choice.
If YES, go to the next question.
  3. Do You Dive three Nitrox mixes per dive?
No, Only two, then the 2-FO2 configuration is for you.
Yes, you will want the 3-FO2 configuration.
  4. Can the GEMINI be used with my semi-closed circuit rebreather?
Yes, semi-closed circuit rebreathers use a constant FO2 Nitrox blend, and if you only dive one mix per dive, the single-gas FO2 configuration is for you.
  5. Do you dive a closed circuit rebreather?
If NO, there is no need to consider a GEMINI with the Constant PO2 feature.
If YES, go to the next question
  6. How many PO2s do you use per dive?
If only one then the One-FO2 / One-PO2 or Two-FO2 /One-PO2 configuration will fill the bill.
If your CCR unit can handle two different PO2s per dive then you will need the Three-FO2 /Two-PO2 version.
  7. Does color make a difference?
The color of the Wrist Unit is strictly a matter of diver preference.
The Tank Unit has a color choice of Black.
  8. Which mounting method is right for you? As with color, it is a matter of diver preference. If you are a "reach under the rocks and in the hole" type you will probably not want a wrist mounted unit. If you like a redundant SPG, you may want the Hose Mount version. If keeping streamlined is your aim, then one of the Retractor mounted versions need consideration.
  9. What is the difference between the Monitor Wrist Unit and the Intelligent Wrist Unit?
The Monitor Wrist Unit is exactly what the name implies, it merely displays (Monitors) the data that is transmitted from the Tank Unit. It equates to the monitor on your P.C., the processor does all the work, and the monitor displays the data.
The Intelligent Wrist Unit, has the capability of becoming an autonomous dive computer, if during the dive the Tank Unit stops transmitting. If the Intelligent Wrist Unit looses communications with the Tank Unit for 60 seconds, it switches to the "Independent" mode. Without interruption, and in a seamless manner, the Wrist Unit will take over all the nitrogen and oxygen calculations. It will supply the diver with Dive Time, NDC or Deco times, depth, ascent rate, and maximum depth. Essentially all the data the unit was being supplied by the Tank Unit except cylinder pressure.
  10. Why offer two colors of Backlight?
Individuals with red-light night-vision problems have the option of having the unit equipped with a Yellow Backlight.
  11. Why two different High-Pressure cable lengths?
The standard 13 inch cable is sufficient for most divers.
The optional 36 inch cable is designed for divers who wish to carry (mount) the Tank Unit in a BC pocket due to the design of their equipment.
  12. How much memory do I need?
While the GEMINI has the capability of storing dive profiles for a maximum of 1100 dive hours.
Some divers who regularly use our AnalystŪ PC software may not want as much. However, there is a certain comfort knowing that your dive computer is retaining ALL of your dives. With the answers to these questions your authorized Cochran Dealer will assist you in selecting a GEMINI configured with the features to match your diving needs. Remember, all GEMINI's can be enhanced and upgraded as your diving experiences progress.
