FEATURES

Dive Time Remaining
Dive Time Remaining provides a 'real' number in minutes. This calculation combines Nitrogen and Oxygen absorption, displaying whichever allows less time.

Oversized Digits
When shopping for a new dive computer, compare the displays. When it comes to viewing critical information, which would you rather see at 100 feet?

Water or Manual Activation
Is it a good idea to check your computer before entering the water? You bet. Could you forget to activate your computer? Sure. The XR-2 features push-button or automatic activation, triggered by water contact. A benefit of push-button activation is easily verifying operation, but in case you forget, or simply choose not to activate your computer, it can be as simple as jumping in the water.

Audible Alarms with Flashing LED Warning Light
The XR-2 features a variety of system and user-customized audible alarms, alerting you to situations that pose a potential danger, or simply serve as a convenient reminder.

Air or Nitrox
The XR-2 acts simply as an ‘Air’ computer until you tell it otherwise, whether that is this weekend or 2 years down the road. As your training and experience grow, the XR-2 is designed to grow with you, being easily programmed for Nitrox mixtures from 21% to 50%.

Extended Range Gauge Mode
Divers using advanced breathing gas mixtures or otherwise conducting planned dives beyond the operational limits of the computer may utilize the XR-2 as an advanced digital depth gauge and bottom timer with detailed PC Interface.

AERIS Dive Computer Algorithm
Decompression theory can be trusted only as far as it has been demonstrated by actual test dive data. In 1987 a unique series of experiments were conducted by Diving Science and Technology (DSAT). Commissioned by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), these Doppler ultrasound monitored human experiments conducted by Dr. Michael Powell produced the most comprehensive data set that exists for recreational divers to this day. These data were used to validate the PADI Recreational Dive Planner and are the basis of the algorithm used in all AERIS Dive Computers.

Diving By The Colors
AERIS Dive Computers are designed with color-coded bar graphs; grey, yellow and red. These graphs monitor three very important diving parameters; nitrogen accumulation, oxygen loading and your personal ascent rate. Pixels build up in each of these color-coded areas to give you a quick, easy reference of these perameters. Proper monitoring of these graphs allows you to select the personal degree of conservatism you wish to build into each dive, putting you in control of your margin of safety.

Automatic Safety Stop Prompt
A brief audible and visual alarm remind you as you approach 15 feet. An automatic 3-minute timer counts down to zero. As in any other dive mode, you still have access to other pieces of information, and there is no penalty should you choose to disregard the safety stop.

Interactive Menu System
Speed through menu items and set modes easily and quickly with AERIS’s intuitive dual button operation.

Date and Time Stamp
The XR-2 features time of day on the surface as well as underwater for quick reference. Time and date stamp also helps you to easily identify specific dives in Log Mode or PC download memory.

User Friendly Mode Icons
All AERIS computers feature bar graphs and universal icons that help you to quickly understand the information displayed on the screen at a glance.

Graphic User Interface™
Using the recognizable logic of yellow and red color-coding in conjunction with bar graphs, the diver has at-a-glance information. As easy to understand as a traffic light, the Graphic Diver Interface helps you to easily monitor No-Decompression status, Oxygen Accumulation and Ascent Rate.

Automatic Altitude Compensation
All AERIS computers automatically compensate for altitude up to 14,000 feet, giving adjusted no-decompression times and depths. They even automatically recalibrate the depth display for freshwater instead of seawater.

Diver-Replaceable Batteries
All AERIS computers feature diver replaceable batteries. This can be a real trip-saver on board a live-aboard boat!

Battery Hot Swap™
An added benefit to diver replaceable batteries. The “hot-swap” feature allows you to change batteries between dives while maintaining all calculations.

24-Hour Fly Countdown and Calculated Desaturation Time
The XR-2 features both a dual 12-hour countdown timer and calculated Desaturation Time, the theoretical time required to off-gas all residual nitrogen at sea level.

Variable Ascent Rate Indicator™
Some computers simply flash an icon, telling you that you’re ascending too quickly. The XR-2’s Variable Ascent Rate Indicator bar graph acts as a speedometer, allowing you to very precisely control your ascent rate via the grey, yellow, and red bar graph.

Depth-Dependent Ascent Rate
The XR-2 features a depth-dependant ascent rate, allowing increased rates at deeper depths and providing additional safety as you near the surface.

Backlighting
The XR-2 features an intense bluish grey light that illuminates the entire dial of the computer evenly at the push of a button. The backlight may be activated either on the surface, or underwater and remains on for button depression time plus the duration that you choose.

24 Dive On-Unit Log Book
The XR-2 features on-unit data storage capacity for 240 dives. Date and time stamp makes locating and viewing a specific dive quick and easy.

Optional Computer Interface
The XR-2 features a watertight, plug-in serial connection for fast and reliable PC download. Feature-rich software provides intuitive post-dive analysis and logging. You have the option to add and/or edit many pieces of information to customize your log book, with data such as depth and decompression status during a dive, maximum depth, bottom time, no-decompression status, descent and ascent rate, surface interval, and any violations recorded automatically.

Advanced Dive Planning Simulator
While AERIS manuals and cue cards are simple to understand, some people learn better through hands-on experience. The on-unit Simulator Mode allows you to run the XR-2 through actual dive profiles including Air Dive, Nitrox, Gauge Mode, and Decompression. You will see the dive happen on the screen as you would in the water.

While this is not a substitute for reading and understanding your Owners Guide, it provides detailed dive planning, is an excellent auxiliary learning tool, and it is a great way to refresh your memory on the way to the dive site, particularly if you have not been diving for a while. A side benefit is that you can always show your dive buddy what a cool new dive computer you have!

Split Set Mode Access
With a computer as advanced as the XR-2, you have many options to personalize it just the way you want. We have split the set mode into two separate menus. Set Mode 1 includes Nitrox mix, maximum depth alarm, and other options that may change from dive to dive. Set Mode 2 includes units of measurement, PC sampling rate, and other personal preferences that will most likely be set once and forgotten.

USER SETTINGS AND OPTIONS

Air or Nitrox
The XR-2 acts simply as an ‘Air’ computer until you tell it otherwise, whether that is this weekend or 2 years down the road. As your training and experience grow, the XR-2 is designed to grow with you, being easily programmed for Nitrox mixtures from 21% to 50%.

Extended Range Digital Gauge Mode On/Off
Activate Digital Gauge Mode for freediving or dives planned beyond the limits of the computer.

Maximum Depth Alarm
The Maximum Depth Alarm provides an audible warning upon reaching your planned maximum depth. This is an important safety feature for deeper dives or less experienced divers, and it comes in handy for rebreather diving where you can pre-set another level of safety.

Elapsed Dive Time Alarm
You’re on a boat trip and the captain says, “Dive your own profiles, but be back in an hour – we’re having lunch!” Just set your XR-2 to alert you when your elapsed dive time reaches one hour.

Units of Measurement
Choose between Metric and Imperial settings for depth and pressure.

12/24 Hour Time Format
Choose between 12 or 24 hour time format, independent of Units of Measurement.

Date and Time of Day
The XR-2 displays time of day on the surface as well as underwater for quick reference. Time and date stamp helps you to easily identify specific dives in On-Unit Log Mode or PC download memory.

Audible Alarm and Flashing LED Warning Light On/Off
You may choose to deactivate all audible and LED alarms.

Nitrogen Tissue Loading Bar Graph Alarm
Many divers have claimed that AERIS’s Nitrogen bar graph design provides the ultimate user-adjustable computer. Want to be a bit more cautious? Make it a personal rule to never enter into the yellow caution zone, or stay one pixel away, or – you get the point. Now you can program the XR-2 to do it for you. Set it once and let your computer alert you when your bar graph reaches a pre-determined level.

Dive Time Remaining
Dive Time Remaining provides a ‘real’ number in minutes. This calculation considers both Nitrogen and Oxygen absorption, displaying whichever allows less time. With this unique XR-2 feature, you are able to program an audible alarm to alert you upon reaching a pre-set number in minutes.

Maximum PO2 Level (Nitrox)
When diving Nitrox, do you prefer your maximum PO2 exposure to be 1.2 ATA? 1.6 ATA? Depending on where you learned and your own personal comfort zone, the answer may be very different from diver to diver. The XR-2 lets you set your own limit. Program an audible alarm to sound at the level that you prefer.

FO2 50% Default On/Off
Following a Nitrox dive, many dive computers calculate your next dive based on a “worse-case scenario”, mix of 50% Oxygen and 79% Nitrogen should you forget to reset your actual mix. With FO2 50% Default OFF, your mix remains at the original set point until you change it again.

Backlight Duration
Would you like the backlight to shut off as soon as you release the button? Would you rather it remain on for 0, 3, or 7 seconds? We don’t need to make these decisions for you; it’s your choice.

PC Interface Sampling Rate
You have the option to choose at which rate (timed or depth transition) the XR-2 samples and stores data for later download to your PC. More frequent sampling will provide extreme detail of your dive profiles with limited storage capacity. Less frequent sampling, while it provides less detail, can store up to 150 dives!

Water Activation On/Off
Do you tend to keep your equipment in a wet dive bag longer than you should? Are you an Instructor or Divemaster in an environment where your gear is never dry? Would you like to disable the water activation feature? Now you can.
